Push Yourself!
Don’t be afraid to push yourself! I am a member of a local gym. The facility offers a variety of classes and the childcare. I don’t have a set routine. If I do, I get bored. I try and go 4-5 times a week and do something different each time. I also attend a free Saturday morning exercise class at a separate facility that leaves me wanting an oxygen tank and my body covered in ice packs. It’s wonderful. It’s when I push myself the hardest that I am happiest with the results.
Don’t Waste My Time
At the beginning of the Summer, a few of the instructors from the gym took the Summer off and left us with substitutes. For the most part, they’ve been fine. However, one day I showed up for a combat class, but a step class had replaced it. I figured it was worth trying. But it wasn’t. The class started out with eight ladies and quickly fell to three. Not because it was an intense class, just the opposite. The instructor was only doing modified versions of everything. At one point, I began doing my cardio, so I could feel like I had done a workout. Another lady quickly joined me. We were then told, “You don’t want to get your heart rate too high!” I responded, “that’s why I’m here!”
Feeling like the class was a waste of time, I left feeling frustrated. It takes a lot of effort to get out of the bed and head to the gym. Exercising is also my “me” time because the kids are safe under someone else’s care. This time is precious. I want to get every bit of benefit for my body out of a workout.
When you head to the gym, run or whatever you do, give it you’re all! Push yourself past your limit. Challenge your body to improve. Don’t be afraid to sweat. Realize that the workout won’t last forever and that your body will be reaping the benefits the whole day. I know that there are some days that you just can’t find that motivation for several reasons but make a goal to give it all you’ve got on most days. Make your workouts push you beyond your limit for a month and you will be astonished by the results.
